Measurement and Fit Guide

For custom angle adapters, please submit a photograph of your transom.

We recommend that the bracket be mounted in such a way as to have the COP(center of prop) a minimum of 8" for powerboats and 12" for sailboats in the water at full DOWN. As such, all of the following dimensions are set for 8 " COP submersion. At full UP, the skeg should barely touch the water on a sailboat, and clear the water by at least 4 inches on a power boat. Individual boats may vary.

Remember, that when you are on the throttle the transom of your boat will lower itself do to the nature of the outboards thrust. This may not be true for some larger boats (25'+ Power and 27'+ Sail), and it also depends on the size of the motor. The larger the motor, the larger the sink level. We do not recommend anything less than 8" COP submersion.

Rough outboard measurements from the perch to the COP(center of prop).

Standard Shaft (15") 23"
Long Shaft (20") 28"
X-Long Shaft (25") 33"

All measurements below are done with the 2500 Series bracket.

1. To determine where to mount your bracket. First locate the area on your transom that has enough relatively flat area covering a minimum of 8"wide by 11.5" tall.

2. Determine what type of engine you are using, and measure from the center of the prop to the perch. (See Below). If you do not have the engine handy, use the values in the table above. In our test case below you can see we are using a Johnson 9.9 long shaft. The measured distance is 27.5 inches.

3. Subtract 1 inch from the value. (This compensates for the bracket lowering below the highest transom mount point.) For our test case we are now calculated at 26.5 inches.

4.Now subtract how many inches below the waterline you want the Center of Prop to be. In our case I want it to be 8 inches below the waterline. So I am now at 18.5 inches.

5. Locate where on the transom you would like the bracket and measure this value, up from the waterline . In our test case - 18.5 inches.
This identifies the very top of the bracket mounting plate that attaches the bracket to the transom. Note the red is the exact area covered by the 2500 Series bracket.
